As Executive Director of the MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node, Charleston Sin leads the effort to organize, champion, and advocate for innovation in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. As a 25-year veteran of the Information technology and telecommunications industry, he now unites his passion for education with innovation & technology, encouraging disruptive application of new technology in the local community and beyond.

Prior to joining MIT, Sin held executive positions in Research & Development, Product Management, and Sales & Marketing at VMware, Cisco Systems, and Nortel Networks in United States, Canada, Asia Pacific, and Greater China. His primary interests lie in key market transition trends, including Fintech, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Mobility, IOT, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and new business models.

Sin received his PhD in Management Sciences at The University of Waterloo. He also holds a master’s degree in Investment Management at the HKUST. Currently, he is member of the board of director of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company.

Simon Au Yeung is currently the Head of Strategic Initiatives of the HashKey Digital Asset Group (HKDAG), a leading HK fintech company with expertise in blockchain, asset management and technology development.

Simon is the co-founder of Merkle Tree Innovation Foundation, an NGO focuses on using innovative (in particular blockchain) technology to relieve or resolve social problems as well as promoting STEAM education.

Prior to joining HKDAG, Simon led various functions of international financial institutions, e.g. Ant Financial, RBC, RBS, HSBC and BNP Paribas. Simon started his career in Morgan Stanley and moved to PwC before joining the SFC as a regulator.

Simon is a Certified Banker of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute and a student mentor of HKU MBA program. He spoke in Hong Kong Blockchain Week, Cyberport Venture Capital Forum, Belt and Road Summit, as well as a guest speaker in CUHK and PolyU.

Simon holds different academic qualifications: a BBA (first class honor) from HKUST, a master of medical science from HKU, two masters of law from CUHK and Tsinghua University. He is also an alumnus and affiliate alumnus of the UPenn Wharton and MIT Sloan respectively.

Emil is a FinTech evangelist with over 20 years experience in managing IT and business transformation projects in international financial institutions. He had worked for several sizeable international banks including Credit Suisse and BayernLB as the roles of First Vice President, Head of IT in Asia Pacific, Project Director and Operations Manager AP. He has extensive experience in both Business and IT consulting encompassing the design, setup, leading and managing of cross-border projects throughout Asia.

In the past 10 years, he participated actively in voluntary community services in related to the popularization of technology. He is the founding Chairman of the Association of Cloud and Mobile Computing Professionals, The FinTech Committee Chairman of the Smart City Consortium and the Honorary Chairman of StartHK promoting proper usage of Cloud and Mobile as well as the adoption of startup culture in Hong Kong. He is the member of the Final Judging Panel of Hong Kong ICT Awards and Chief Judge of the ICT Startup Award 2019. He also sits on the board of The Smart City Consortium as the FinTech Committee Chair. Emil also hosts seminars, delivers public speeches and publishes articles of FinTech related topics on local newspapers and interviewed by various media from time to time.

Eric Chan is the Chief Public Mission Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport. Ir. Chan oversees the ecosystem dedicated to cultivating start-ups and inspiring the next generation through nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit, empowering global ambition, and providing comprehensive entrepreneurship programmes and early stage funding.

Ir. Chan has 32 years of experience in the ICT industry, and is a chartered engineer, a chartered marketer and a fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology (UK). Prior to joining Cyberport, he was a Director of HGC Global Communication; and held various senior positions in global telecom and IT services companies. Ir. Chan has been active in public services, especially in education and industrial training, professional bodies and charitable organisations.

Ir. Chan holds a BSc. (Hon) degree in Engineering from University of London, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Manchester Business School, and received Executive Education from INSEAD and IESE business schools.

Dr. Chau is currently the Director of Hong Kong, Macao, and Cross-border Financial Affairs at Tencent. Before joining Tencent, she was a Senior Lecturer at the HK Baptist University, within the School of Business. Dr. Chau was also the Director of the new Master in Finance (FinTech and Financial Analytics), bringing together the best minds and leaders in Finance, FinTech, A.I., RegTech, Privacy and Cybersecurity. With over 8 years in this space, Dr. Chau is a seasoned FinTech professional with a strong reputation as being an industry and academic liaison. Dr. Chau’s deep industry connections has allowed her to bring the biggest and best organizations from Tencent, Alipay, IBM, UBS, BNP Paribas, Ant Financial, Deloitte, Ping An Bank, Crypto.com and others to work with her to integrate content into her programmes, where she has successfully built industry-academic collaboration.  She is also the advisor and chairman of the Data Privacy Special Interest Group of the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA) and the founding council member and chairman of the blockchain education committee of the Hong Kong Blockchain Development Association (HKBCDA).

Dr. Chau is also the Co-Chair of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and inducted as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP). In addition to her CIPP/A and CIPM certifications, her Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe (CIPP/E) certification makes her a sought out expert on the topic of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where she has presented to audiences both locally in Hong Kong and China, including CPA Australia, The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Hong Kong Independent Non-executive Director Association, HKUSPACE, The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, The Hong Kong Institute of Directors, and more.

Dr Chau received her doctoral degree in philosophy in 2012, in the Department of Management and Marketing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and was responsible for teaching and coordinating projects relating to FinTech, Computer Ethics, CRM and business intelligence, Business process and workflow, and Business and IS strategies. Dr Chau’s research interests include IT governance, Financial Technology, Blockchain and Cryptocurrency. She has published 5 papers in international journals such as Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Engineering and Technology Management.

Eugene leads HKSTP’s Technology Clusters, Platforms, Incubation, Strategic Partnerships, Investment and Leasing & Operation Services. Working closely with the executive team, Eugene is at the forefront of executing our strategy of building a vibrant ecosystem at the Science Park. He and his teams are also responsible for bringing reputable companies and technologies to Hong Kong, and creating value for all partner companies through close collaboration and partnerships.

Eugene obtained his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Boston College in the U.S. He has a strong understanding of the innovation & technology ecosystem, bringing solid and proven experiences in both strategic and operational aspects of building a business. He has over 24 years of deep technology knowledge, specializing in technical infrastructure, software applications, and services consulting. He had managed and grown global teams for various Silicon Valley companies, such as Hewlett Packard, IBM, and Agilent Technologies. Eugene also co-founded two successful start-ups in the US & Singapore respectively, bringing with him the entrepreneur spirit and startup experience to the HKSTP family.

Selina is the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI), a trade body with 140 insurers operating in Hong Kong which represents over 90% of the market share. 

Selina has accumulated extensive management and communications experience in the field of insurance since she joined the HKFI in 1997.  In addition to overseeing the operations of the HKFI and its 40+ technical committees and various consumer education and communications projects, she also spearheaded a number of significant initiatives for the industry, including the Insurance Fraud Prevention Claims Database, the award-winning Motor Insurance DLT-based Authentication System (MIDAS), the virtual onboarding platform for the distribution of life insurance products, the Hong Kong Insurance Awards, etc. 

Externally, she is a Council Member of the Institute of Big Data Governance.  She also serves as member of the Cyberport Academy Advisory Group for FinTech, Road Safety Campaign Committee under the Road Safety Council and Insurance Training Advisory Committee of the Qualifications Framework.

Sean is an accomplished executive and conference speaker with extensive experience in digital innovation, cloud strategy and FinTech. He has been quoted in Forbes, Bloomberg Businessweek, Sing Tao Daily, Hong Kong Economic Journal, amongst others.

Currently he is the CEO of Algorand Foundation, where he leads a team of cryptographers, economists and technologists as the custodian of the Algorand blockchain protocol, a highly scalable and decentralized digital currency and transactions platform founded by Alan Turing Award winner Silvio Micali. The Foundation’s mandate includes broadening ecosystem participation, community building, and responsible distribution of the protocol’s digital token. Sean is currently based in Hong Kong.

Previously he held leadership roles within global technology companies, working primarily with financial services clients and partners across 20+ countries. A technologist at heart, he has been advising and investing in blockchain startups since 2018, as well as mentoring at FinTech accelerators. Sean holds an EMBA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Computer Science degree from the University of Waterloo. Fun fact: He is an avid Star Wars fan, an amateur photographer and a whiskey enthusiast.

By leveraging on the proven experience and excellent WeBank technology (incl. AI, Blockchain, Cloud Computing and Big Data), Juni articulates the strategy and drives the contribution to enable the breakthrough of the advanced digital transformation in the financial services industries.

Juni is a high tech industry veteran with more than 25 years’ experience. Prior to WeBank, Juni has taken up various leadership roles, incl. Global VP of the Transport, Logistics and Automotive Industries and VP for Security in Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) in BT Global Services; Managing Director for Hong Kong and Taiwan at F5 Networks; as well as different sales leadership roles in the SaaS and Application Business Units during her 15 years of tenure in Oracle.

Earlier in her career, Juni worked in the Strategy Consultancy at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting advising clients on strategic decisions, ranging from China entry strategy, product and marketing strategy, to e-business strategy.
